Mountains, walking and fabulous food are a natural combination as far as I’m concerned, and everything gets burnt off very easily. Carrying a nice bit of Flapjack is in fact important for your safety on any walk 😉
Take some good quality ingredients, a little bit of social time preparing them, and some simple recipes and you can get so much more from your meals.
The Castle Farm Cookbook is all about big natural flavours, honest food cooked from fresh ingredients that recharge your tastebuds and a whole lot more.
The recipes are a mixture of childhood favourites, meals cooked at my favourite mountain hideouts, a bit of experimentation (like the chocolate banana sauce), specialities that our guests offer to cook, and recipes inspired by chefs like Jamie Oliver, Antony Worrall Thompson, Valentine Warner, Amy Willcock and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

For walking, a good satisfying bit of flapjack reaches parts that other oaty products don’t reach. Get back from a summer walk for a bit of carrot cake and a nice cuppa, then tuck in to refreshingly mouthwatering bit of duck and mango salsa. We’ve also discovered a number of recipes that bring new life to old beliefs about lentils.. try the deliciously cheesey Veggie Weggie or comfortingly yummy Tarka Daal
